Grammar - The Necessary Evil

Most kids would probably tell you that one of the subjects they hate most is grammar.  Learning the parts of speech, conjugating verbs, and all the other drills can be dreadfully dull.  Grammar, however, is an important part of any education.  It's a necessity for effective written and verbal communication.  It's not an easy task to make grammar a fun and entertaining subject, but, there is some software available that lessens the pain.

At Learning Is Fun Store we have software that turns grammar into an entertaining game show.  In Grammar Made Easy (Ages 9-14) kids are tested for their knowledge of grammar.  Then, this intuitive software will present tutorials that are easy to understand for any areas there is a weakness.  Parents can monitor progress, topics include nouns, verb forms, simple verbs and tenses, adjectives and adverbs, pronouns and prepositions as well as sentence structure.

High school students will enjoy going on a journey with Rozwell the space alien in High Achiever Grammar. Grammar becomes second nature with well done explanations, interesting examples and exercises that will reinforce learning.  More advanced topics include clauses, idioms, phrasing, and advanced sentence structure.

Kids and Coloring

A favorite occupation of many children is coloring.  They like working with the pretty colors, cute drawings and get a sense of accomplishment when done.  Coloring inspires a child's creativity, imagination and strengthens their hand eye coordination.  Children also love computers, and, when you put these two components together it can be magical.

The makers of America's favorite crayons, Crayola, has done just that.  Crayola has come up with an assortment of software that will inspire and entertain children.  Not only does this software get them used to working with computers, they can make the same picture look any way that they want it to, then print it to share with family and friends.  Kids can even print blank pictures to color the traditional way.

Crayola Art Studio introduces kids to other mediums besides crayons and has a thousand creative pictures to get youngsters started.  Kids can make cards, invitations, decorations and much more.  Crayola 3D Castle Creator is a fun program that has kids building and coloring castles, and introduces them to knights, kings and queens.  Kids love to decorate for holidays, and Crayola Dazzling Decorations will help them do just that.  At Learning Is Fun Store we have other fun software titles that will help young imaginations soar.

Hitting the books can be a daunting task for middle and high school students.  It's important for them to develop good studying habits to keep grades up and prepare them for higher learning.  One way of livening up studying is educational software specifically designed to be stimulating, interactive and informative.  Kids can learn at their own pace and computers are nonjudgemental.

Typing - A Necessary Skill

Some day, we'll all just sit down in front of a computer, talk to it, and it will obey our commands.  That day isn't here yet, so, knowing how to type is a necessity for homework assignments, browsing the internet and sending emails.  It's a skill that will follow a child through school and beyond.

Children are exposed to computers at a very young age, and it's important for them to learn the right way to type before they develop bad habits that will be hard to break.  Fortunately, there's software designed just for that purpose that turns typing into fun and games.  Before you know it, they'll be typing up a storm and it will become second nature to them.

At Learning Is Fun Store, we have several fun and entertaining software programs that kids really enjoy.  Jump Start Typing and Superstart Typing Arcade use arcade style games to teach and reinforce skills.  Typing Instructor for Kids II motivates children to learn with an adventure story that continues as they progress.  All of these titles will give them a solid foundation to aid in future success.

Every Child's Favorite Doctor

One of my favorite books when I was a young child was Green Eggs and Ham by the iconic Dr. Seuss.  The loveable characters and colorful phrasing of Dr. Seuss books have kept them popular for decades.  That same sense of charming fun can be found in the Dr. Seuss series of educational software specially designed with the help of educators.

For toddlers, Dr. Seuss ABC's and Dr. Seuss Toddler are both creative and entertaining for small children.  Parents can enjoy spending a little time helping them learn, and this software is designed to be easy for very young children to use.  All they have to do is move the mouse and something happens.  Children learn the association between sounds and letters, expand their vocabulary, learn early counting and much more.

As your child's skills grow, you can then introduce them to Dr. Seuss Preschool and Dr. Seuss Kindergarten.  Both of these software programs come loaded with 250 lessons that will have your youngster having fun while learning all the essential skills that they will need to build their success in school.  There's nothing more rewarding than seeing them laugh and learn at the same time.

Dinosaurs - Not Extinct for Kids

What is the attraction between kids and dinosaurs?  Maybe it's the fact that they were so large and powerful, yet, they no longer roam the earth.  It could be that they are in many ways, still a mystery.  Scientists are finding out more and more about them as they uncover new bones or new technology comes along.

At Learning Is Fun Store, we have something for dinosaur lovers of every age.  For youngsters, we have learning software featuring Dally Doo, the friendly dinosaur.  Both Dally Dinosaur Teaches Animals and Dally Dinosaur Teaches Shapes will fascinate and entertain little ones.

For older children, Dinosaur Hunter is a great choice.  It's filled with amazing 3D animations, illustrations, and information.  Kid's can even go on a virtual dig and then assemble the bones.  Dinosaur Adventure 3-D is a fun game that takes children on a journey through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods with Rolf the dinosaur and his pal.  This software is loaded with games, activities and movies that will be satisfying fun.

Fun software Games for Kids

When homework and chores are done for the day, there's nothing wrong with kids having a little time to unwind with something that's just for fun.  Software games designed for younger children is a great way to reward them.

Software games have several advantages over old fashioned board games and internet game sites.  There are no pieces to lose with a software game, ergo, no mess.  You don't have to worry about your child exploring or being exposed to anything or anyone unsavory on the internet.

At Learning Is Fun Store, we have a variety of software games that the whole family can enjoy, as well as thinking games.  Some favorites that kids seem to enjoy immensely are Hamster Ball, Mummy Maze and SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom.

Jump Start Fun

One of the best ways for children to learn is by playing games.  Playing games is not only just for fun and entertainment.  Game playing can simulate real life situations and can help children learn how to think things through, solve problems and develop early logic skills.  While children relax and play, they often don't realize that they are learning at the same time.

There are a variety of thinking games on the market today designed for toddlers all the way up to teens that will stimulate learning fun.  One of the best programs I've found is from Jump Start, a leader in curriculum based software.  Jump Start software features engaging story lines, adventures that will introduce them to fascinating places and people, and they get to exercise their knowledge at the same time.

For young children, Jump Start - My First Adventure will have toddlers exploring an amazing 3-D neighborhood, meeting friends and playing games.  Jump Start Explorers is a wonderful learning tool where kids follow famous explorers to China, the pyramids, the New World and more.  A fascinating way for them to experience adventure while learning history.  We invite you to visit our website for more Jump Start titles as well as other fine discount educational software and games.

You're Never Too Old To Learn

As we grow older, science has proven that it's not a good thing to just sit in the corner and vegetate.  The mind and body can go downhill very quickly.  It's important to keep both our minds and bodies active, and, one thing that we can do is learn something new.

Get up, get out, and take up a leisure time hobby.  There are many outdoor activities that aren't overly taxing, but will give the body a workout and lift the spirits.  Golf and fishing are just two of them - everyone is looking forward to Spring and being able to enjoy the outdoors again.  Now is a good time to do a little learning if you'd like to take on these recreational sports.

At Learning Is Fun Store, we have software that adults can enjoy as well.  I would recommend Easy Fishing and Easy Golf for great information on all the basics you will need to know and the proper equipment to buy to enjoy these great sports.

Improving Elementary School Grades

In today's economy, classroom sizes are getting larger as more and more money is cut from school budgets.  Sometimes it's difficult for every child to receive the individual attention that he or she may need to truly excel in school.  A child can truly get lost in the system.

There are two things that every child loves, playing on computers and having fun.  One thing that parents can do to help their child achieve scholastically is curriculum based software.  A program that I would recommend to parents is Smart Steps.  This software is designed to cover a year's worth of core curriculum and can greatly improve confidence and grades.

Smart Steps is an entertaining curriculum based program that not only covers core subjects, but, for younger students has creative activites and a special playroom where they can read books and play music.  Children earn stickers to collect as motivation for completing activites.  Smart Steps 1st Grade and Smart Steps 2nd Grade will have your child returning to play and learn again and again.

Learning Another Language

Whether you're young or old, it's never too late to learn another language. If you're in school, plan to travel or just always wanted to learn, one of the best ways to learn is the immersion method.

This is much the same way we learned to speak our own native tongue.  We learned by associating a word with an object.  In immersion learning, you are surrounded by the language and learn it in a very visual way.  This method has been proven to work very well and has been used by many successful language schools.

At Learning Is Fun Store, we have a variety of languages and programs for you to explore.  Of course, there are the common languages such as French or Spanish.  You will also find some less common languages, including Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and  Polish.
